Day 25 - Final Meeting

A Solemn Closing Ceremony

After an emotional day yesterday by saying our farewell to our assigned school, we will have an evaluation today at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP). We were picked-up by mas Kahfi, one of buddies who is also studying to UMP. We went inside a conference where there are several people who are waiting for us. Inside were some familiar faces; a representative from International Affairs Office of UMP, the dean of the Faculty of Education, some teachers and staff from SMP Muhammadiyah Purwokerto and Ibu Adel and Ibu Cici from SMA N1 Baturraden. On the meeting we discussed about the experience and challenges we had within 3 weeks of teaching. It was a travel back to memory lane as I summarized what happened to me since day one up to the latest. The teachers also shared their thoughts about us and also about the program itself. The quest asked to us was from the dean of the Education faculty. He asked on what are the things that they need to do in order to make our experience better. Cristine, Pingpong and Mass said that so far everything is good and cannot think of anything that would improve the program more. On the other hand, I suggested to extend the stay of SEA-Teachers in order to experience more classroom situation and to be more exposed to different schools around Purwokerto. We ended the ceremony through giving of certificates as well as having a photo opportunity with all the people who took part of the program.

Parting Ways

After the pictorials, we had a moment with our cooperating teachers and also our school coordinator to finally bid our farewell to one another. They gave me a quick but very meaningful message. The message of hope and success in the future. I never stopped saying the word “thank you” to the both of them until we parted ways. I am so grateful that I was assigned to a school that really took good care not just for me but for all of us. Even more grateful to work with a very energetic and dynamic teacher Ibu Cici and the smiling Ibu Adel. These two woman are superb. No wonder why students in SMA N1 Baturraden loves them.

A Quick Escapade in Curug Telu

A refreshing view of Curug Telu

The sun is high and the city is getting warmer and warner. Our buddies from UMP invited us to drenched ourselves to a cold dip. We traveled north and passed by SMA N1 Baturraden. I had my final glimpse of the school prior leaving the country. Few kilometers away from SMA, we reached a little village of Karangsalam, Baturraden. It is surrouned by a vast rice fields and on its north is the humongous mt. Slamet hiding on a sea of clouds. We trek down for 5-10minutes on a concrete step before reaching the seeing the hidden wonder of the village. Just 10,000 Rupiah, you can choose to either swim or shower from three giant waterfalls which is as high as a 5 storey building. Curug is a Javanese word means waterfalls and Telu means three because there are three waters who are flowing right next to each other. The water is clear and so inviting that it got me drenched my whole body and swim on its crystal clear water. You can also find huge rocks piled-up in the middle of the waterfalls which is an instagramable spot.
