Day 20 - Got Loca in Lokawisata

A Very Awesome Saturday

The dawn is breaking which signals a new beginning. I quickly got up from my bed as I am excited for today’s agenda. Last weekend, we went to Caping park where we had a 360 degrees’ view of Purwokerto and Baturraden. We also went to the cold mountain in Purbalinga for strawberry picking in the afternoon. Today is going to be a different adventure as we will trek the mountainside of Baturraden. Ibu Cici set-up a trip for us four (me, Mas, Cristine and Pingpong) to tour one of the famous tourist attractions in Banyumas Regency. We drop-by at SMK to see what it is like. The school building is huge and the place is very cozy. I could not believe that it is a government owned facility. SMK is for senior high school students who wants to take vocational courses for college. After we went to SMK, we also drop by at the SMP & SMA Al Irsyad campus in Purwokerto. The set-up is a bit different from their boarding school. The school is also big with superb facilities and amenities. After hopping from one school to another, we went to SMA Baturraden to pick-up students who will also join is with our trip today.

I Got Loca at Lokawisata

After a fun ride, we finally reached our destination. The weather is cold and the fogs is low. An airplane was placed near the gate greeting the visitors who are about to enjoy the view of the place. Outside is a series of fountains and on top of it is the name of the resort “Lokawisata”. As we enter the gate, we are so amazed on what we saw. The place itself is so vast with many different attractions. From the gate we can hear the gushing of water from a huge and tall fountain. The fountain is as high as a five storey building. Ibu Cici said that if we will be lucky later, we can see a rainbow in it. We went first to a fish spa where we plunge our feet on its cold water. As soon as my feet reached the surface of the water, a school fish feast on it as if they are about to devour my entire feet. While the fish feast on my dead and old skin cells, I feel unease due to the tickling sensation. I was very noisy at the pond because of it. I was like, loca loca lokawisata.

Message Relay

After the crazy experience with the tickling fish pond, we went to find a place where we can do an activity for students. Cristine and I prepared games and drills for students of SMA Baturraden who are part of the English club to enhance their skills in using the English language. Mas and Pingpong also help in facilitating the game. We laid down few mats so that we can sit on the ground and started the activity with some songs to prepare the students for the next activity. We then ask the students to form a group and explained to the them the mechanics of the game. Cristine wrote several simple tongue twisters on a piece of paper. Students will have to relay the tongue twister up to the last person. The person will the state the tongue twister to me. The purpose of this is to exercise the tongue of students so that it will be easier for them to enunciate English words. The kids enjoyed the game and learned some new words as well as how to enunciate it properly. We also had message relay with a twist in which instead of relaying a message through whispering, they have to act it and the last person should guess what particular word is associated to the action relayed to her. It was a close competition for both team but Group 2 emerged as the winner. After a fun game, we sat down on the mat again and did some chitchats to know the students better over a sumptuous local snacks.

Hot Spring

A relaxing dip in a sulfuric hot spring. It is indeed therapeutic.

After our enriching activity, started to tour the place. We went to a waterfall where we witness some of the locals are jumping from the top of the waterfalls for entertaining the tourists for a thousand rupiah. The act is exhilarating for me that I want to try as well. Sadly, I did not bring extra clothes with me. After witnessing a death defying act of the locals in the waterfalls, we went to the hot spring. The hot spring is color yellow due to the presence of sulfur in it. We drenched our tired feet on the warm waters of the pool and I feel so relaxed. The experience was so relaxing that as the time goes by, I want to just close my eyes and sleep. After the hot spring we went to find a perfect place where we can eat our lunch.

Fish Feeding at the Lagoon

After a sumptuous meal, we went to a huge lagoon to do fish feeding. I totally enjoyed the refreshing view of the lagoon which is situated on a higher spot of the resort. The fish in the lagoon are so big that I think it can swallow my entire arm. We gave some food given to us by the tenant of the lagoon to the fish as we pedal our swan-shaped boat around the lagoon. We also took some photos to capture our memories in that place.

Here are some of the views in Lokawisata:

Lokawisata is indeed will make you loca due to its beautiful spots.

I ended the day with a dose of caffeine.
